Art Exhibit

After looking around in the art exhibit I think that my favorite artwork was the collages. Its fun to see how someone collected a series of images and put them together in a certain manner. I like that the collages tell a story and that it flows together. For one of them I saw that there was some sort of history theme in which the creator put together a series of images from different time periods. For that particular image i wondered what the noose signified, this added to the mystery and my overall impression with the art. I was impressed with all the artwork but I think the collages were my favorite.

Photography

I think in photography what really makes in image pop is the lighting. In this image I took I was walking along prospect park and I thought that since the sun was so bright it would make a nice picture. I like how the sunlight makes the shadows in the image pop, along with making the image brighter. I believe that taking pictures of nature is the best too.

I used a filter to make it better xD

Chocolate Cosmos

I was reading a manga called chocolate cosmos and I came across a page that impressed me. I liked the page the most because it was decorated in a way that made it shine. I like that in manga they seem to draw their characters and scenes in a way that make it pop out of the page. I like that its set up as a series of movement that makes it easier for the reader to visualize what is going one. xD

Eyes

Eyes are the window to the soul. I find them very fascinating how there are many different eye shapes. Here I drew a simple almond shaped eye. My favorite part was they shading. I think what makes any drawing of an eye more realistic is the shading and the shine mark that you add to an eye. As seen in my final version of my drawing after its been shaded the shine marks on the eye pop making the eye look more realistic.

Shojo vs. Shounen

Shojo and Shounen manga are different in many ways. The story line is the main difference but there are even differences in the way characters are drawn. I drew both Shounen and Shojo characters after watching a YouTube tutorial. I learned there are differences in eyes, hair, and body structures of shojo and shounen characters. Shojo characters tend to be more feminine and soft meanwhile shounen characters seem to be more tough looking and muscular. This is understandable since shojo manga is for the female audience meanwhile shounen is for the male audience. It was fun drawing manga characters, I was impressed that I didn't completely ruin the drawings.

I prefer the look of the shojo character. xD

Inspired Art Attempt

After viewing the awesome Andy on his intagram account and his wonderful art I decided to attempt to draw something with pencil and trace it with a pen. I'm a big fan of Gothic punk fashion so I decided to draw a character that portrayed the Gothic punk look that I am a very big fan of. I also decided to make him wear an eye patch due to the fact that I am hooked on a vocaloid (voice synchronizer program) that has an eye patch called Oliver. My drawing isn't as great as I would like it to be but I am proud that it at least came out decent enough for people to get an idea of what I was attempting to draw. After drawing this character I decided that I need to work on drawing hands and fingers for this guys hand looks out of proportion. I hope that if I color it, my character would look as cool as it did on Andy's drawing, since I haven't had much practice with color pencils I'm expecting the worse. I am glad that I attempted a drawing though.

College of Art and Design Student

I admire artists who add their own twist to art already in existence. On instagram you can find an artist who shares his work online. His name is Andy C. and he is an art student, in his account he draws different things, however, as a follower I can tell that what he like drawing most is Pokemon. What I like about his account is that he shows his art in steps which allows his viewers to feel as if they are there with him watching him draw. I also admire admire the fact that he uses the simplest tools to create impressive art. In most of his Pokemon fan art he draws using a pencil and color pencils. The fact that he uses simple tools that practically everyone has in their household to make magnificent art is inspiring. I have color pencils at home and when I would use them the coloring would not look as perfectly blended and smooth as it does in Andy's artwork. It inspired me to want to try and draw something as impressive as his art. I also like that he adds his own twist to drawing already in existence. In this Pikachu drawing made by him he added some hair and some clothes. In my personal opinion I think he made it look like a mini him in Pikachu form which made the image much more appealing. I wanted to write about this artist because the way he draws gets me excited and motivated to try drawing even though I'm pretty bad at it. xD

The Art of Fashion

http://www.le-happy.com/twenty-fourteen/

Fashion is a form of art in which someone expresses themselves through clothes. I'm not much a fashion expert but I admire the way certain people portray themselves through their clothes. This fashion student, called Lua Perez, likes to use her clothes to express what she likes. I like the fact that she uses a lot of edgy looks to complement the cute aspects of her clothing. She has heeled ankle boots, ear cuff ear-rings, a belt, necklaces, earrings and a blazer that add to the edgy look. Now in fashion the "edgy look" is an artistic form or portraying a tough look. Not only does Lua use an edgy look, but she mixes it well with a cute look. Underneath the blazer we can see a dress that has a slight flare at the bottom. Aside from being black the dress allows the "edgy look" to become a little more cute rather than fierce. I like how Lua uses the art of fashion to express likes and personality.

MEMORIAL ARCH

This arch sometimes called the Memorial Arch and the "Soldiers' and Sailors' Arch"began being constructed in 1989 to complement an entrance of prospect park and commemorate many people and generally the successes of America and its freedom. In the South side of the Arch there is a figure holding a tablet that has "Constitution" written on it. The highlight of America in this arch seems to be the Civil War and seem to commemorate the founders of the Union. Despite having its American message of freedom the arch seems to be inspired from Roman and Greek Art. There are Greek orders on the sides and it seems to be similar to a roman arch.

Central Library Architecture History

Brooklyn's Central Library is an impressive building that has a long history. The construction of the Central was not completed as planned due to the fact that world war one and the great depression occurred during the beginning of the construction of the central library that affected funds. Originally an architect called Raymond F. Almirall has planned the way the building was going to look, which would have been with a dome top and many orders that surround the building. After funds were sufficient, instead of architect Raymond an architectural firm called Githens & Keally redesigned the building in a different way. This is why the construction of the building looks different in the front and in the side(as shown bellow).
